In our last blog, we talked about how we address tooth loss with a dental implant. But what if you have lost several of your natural teeth, or if all of them? Again, we can help with implant dentistry, and in only one visit! In today’s blog, your team at Cerritos Dental Surgery talks about All-On-Four implant dentures.
The Impact of Losing Your Entire Smile
When you suffer from severe tooth loss, which is the loss of most or all of your teeth, you need help. Otherwise, these missing teeth could severely limit your meal options and deprive you of essential nutrients. In addition, the lack of natural teeth could mean issues with clear speech, and embarrassment in social situations. Your jawbone could weaken without tooth roots too, which could lead to a prematurely aged appearance! But with All-On-Four, we not only fill the empty space in your smile, but we do so with an option that strengthens your jawbone and preserves your facial structure too, all in a single visit.
The All-On-Four Process
How do we help smiles with All-On-Four? Well, our team will examine your smile and then gently remove the last few teeth with a gentle tooth extraction. Next, we will choose the best angle, position, and depth to insert your four new dental implants, usually four per arch. These require less structure than traditional implants, and can support a new row of teeth and prevent the jawbone from losing more mass and density. Once these are in place, we will attach an abutment to the post that extends above the gum line. Finally, we will attach a complete row of new teeth. This ensures you have a full and beautiful smile, and in one sitting too!
Managing Your New Smile
How do you keep your new smile intact? Our team will monitor your smile in follow-up visits to ensure the implants remain in place and your smile stays full and intact. With visits to your general dentist every six months, you can better protect your smile with checkups and cleanings. Care at home to brush and floss your new smile is also important. You want to help manage issues that could threaten your new smile, such as periodontal disease.
If you have any questions about how we treat advanced tooth loss, or about how we support a complete smile in only one visit, then contact our team today to learn more. You deserve a complete smile, and we want to help make it possible with All-On-Four implant dentures!
