When you think that you’re experiencing bleeding in your mouth, it can cause you to feel a bit shocked and worried. We understand that this is a very common reaction and our Cerritos, CA team reminds you that it’s absolutely normal to experience these types of emotions. We also remind you, however, that there’s no need to feel afraid or to try to ignore the issue. Instead, we walk you step by step through some questions to ask yourself and the best way to proceed. As always, when you notice such a change, come talk with us during an oral pathology visit! You’ll be so happy you did.
First, Ask Yourself What You Actually Saw
Before you assume that you most certainly saw bleeding because you think that you saw some amount of blood in the sink, remember that we encourage our patients to think about what they really experienced, rather than what they think is going on. For instance, did you look in the mirror and see any blood coming from a particular spot like a sore or your gum tissue? Or, did you just notice after you were nearly done brushing that there might have been some blood in the sink? Remember: Red or pink coloring in the sink along with your toothpaste could mean you just ate something saturated with food coloring, so keep this in mind.
Next, If You Need Care, Call Us At Any Time
